    Day 1 Budapest

Arrive in Budapest and embark on your luxury river cruise in the late afternoon. There’ll be a welcome cocktail party before dinner is served on board, after which the ship plies up and down, passing the magnificently floodlit buildings on both sides of the river and going under the illuminated chain bridge. A lively  gypsy  band will  add to the local atmosphere  later on. The ship remains moored overnight in Budapest.

    Meals: Breakfast . Dinner

    Day 2 Budapest and Szentendre

Budapest is a city made up of two parts: Buda and Pest, built on opposite banks of the Danube. Buda, with its cobbled streets and medieval architecture, is the older and more graceful part while Pest, with its wide  avenues and impressive 19th-century  public buildings, is the administrative  and commercial centre. East meets West in this fascinating city, which has an amazing variety of shops and restaurants. This morning there’ll be a city sightseeing tour (included), while in the afternoon you can visit Szentendre (included). Szentendre  began to be frequented by artists in 1926. Its main little square, the Foetér, surrounded by impressive  rococo and Baroque  buildings,  is  well  worth seeing. There’s also the “Szabo”, a marzipan museum, and the  Margit Kovács museum, which is one of Hungary’s most visited museums. The ship leaves Budapest later in the day.

Meals: Breakfast . Lunch . Dinner

    Day 3 Bratislava and Vienna

This morning we arrive at the capital  of the Republic of Slovakia, Bratislava,  which celebrated its 2000th anniversary in 1991. We will pass below the colossal new ‘SNP’ suspension bridge across the Danube, and then have a sightseeing tour (included). The city’s attractive old quarter has maintained its gothic-baroque style. We pass St. Martin's cathedral and the Grassalkovich Palace and drive up to the hill from which there  are stunning views of the city and surrounding areas. We then walk through the historic centre, past St. Martin’s cathedral, many palaces, and the Michael gate. At midday the vessel departs for  Vienna,  where it docks in the evening. After dinner you can  join the  “Vienna at night” (included) excursion,  on which you drive through the  Wienerwald up to the Kahlenberg, Vienna’s best viewpoint, with a view  of the city over vineyards. Then a drive  through the traditional wine village Grinzing takes you to oldest champagne cellars in Austria. On a tour through the 300 year old basement of Schlumberger world you will learn interesting details about the "Traditional Method", that came from the region Champagne to Vienna.

Meals: Breakfast . Lunch . Dinner

    Day 4 Vienna

Here we are in wonderful Vienna  -  home of the waltz, coffee houses, the Prater park and one of the world's  finest  opera  houses.  Our  Vienna  sightseeing  tour  (included)  provides  you  with  an  overall impression  of  the  city’s  most  important  sights,  taking  you  along  the  Ringstrasse,  into  the Schwarzenbergplatz, passing by the  Karlskirche  and Vienna’s stunning opera house. Later you also see the famous Hundertwasser apartment block, part of Vienna’s unusual modern architecture, with time  available  to  visit  the  building  or  to  shop  for  souvenirs.  Last  stop  is  at  the  city’s  famous  St. Stephan’s cathedral, where there will be time to see round inside. The coach then drives  back to the vessel along the Danube canal. In the afternoon you can take an optional excursion to the Schoenbrunn castle (optional), one of Vienna’s most beautiful buildings. After dinner you could attend a  music  performance  called  “The  Sound of Vienna”  (optional) - (subject  to  availability)  where  the Salonorchester  „Alt  Wien“,  one  of  the  famous interpreters of classical music, sparks off a unique firework of the most beautiful on its highest level. The vessel leaves Vienna after midnight.

    Day 5 Duernstein and Melk

This morning is at leisure, seeing the  lovely scenery of the Wachau district from the sundeck. The ship moors in Melk / Emmersdorf at midday. There’ll then be an interesting coach excursion through the Wachau (included), driving first to Dürnstein, one of the best-known wine villages in the Wachau and set in a glorious position. Then you drive through the district’s picturesque scenery to the 900-year old Benedictine abbey of Melk. In the course of a guided tour you see the  bishops’ rooms, the Emperor’s gallery, the marble hall, the altars and the library. Sometimes there will also be a short organ recital in the abbey church. At the end of the tour we invite you to have a glass of wine at a local restaurant. After dinner the vessel continues upstream to Linz.

Meals: Breakfast . Lunch . Dinner

    Day 6 Linz - Passau - (Salzburg)

In  the  morning  the  ship  ties  up  in  Linz,  Austria’s  third-largest  city.    Comparatively  few  river  cruise ships visit Linz, despite interesting features dating from when it was the country’s  cultural capital. There’ll be  a city walk (included)  where you can admire the most important sights of Linz.  Alternatively you can visit Salzburg (optional), the city where Mozart was born, by taking  an excursion (included) starting here in Linz  and  ending  in  the  Bavarian  city of  Passau.  The old  quarter of Salzburg, with its  world  famous Baroque architecture, is one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps and was adopted by UNESCO  on  its  World  Cultural  Heritage  list  in  1997.  In  the  afternoon  the  vessels  reaches  Passau, Bavaria’s  most  eastern  city,  where  those  on  the  Salzburg  excursion  rejoin  the  vessel.  Passau’s impressive Baroque cathedral houses the largest church organ in the world (with 17,388 pipes and 231 registers) and most of its main sights are very close to the Danube. If you have not taken the excursion to Salzburg you’ll have time to explore Passau on your own or join a  walking tour (included)  to see the highlights with a local guide. The vessel will leave Passau in the evening and spend the night cruising upstream through Bavaria towards Regensburg. On  the  penultimate  evening  of  this  Danube  cruise,  the  captain  welcomes  everyone  to  a  special dinner,  during  and  after  which  the  ship’s  wonderful  orchestra  will,  once  again,  be  entertaining everyone with its spirited playing.

Meals: Breakfast . Lunch . Dinner

    Day 7 Regensburg

During the morning we arrive at  Regensburg,  one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities. After lunch you can take an exciting optional boat trip  when you join our excursion to  Weltenburg Abbey (included). The gorge is beautiful and the monastery, founded by  Irish  or Scottish  monks in about 620 AD, is the oldest monastery in Bavaria. After a short tour of the abbey church you can sample some famous dark Weltenburg beer, which is brewed here in the oldest abbey brewery in the world.
